Independance Day Swap Card 2

This card is of a Dolley Madison Star. In addition to being a First Lady, Dolley Madison was quite the lady. She's credited for being the first to serve ice cream at the White House and she was known for being the quintisential hostess. She had a quick mind for politics and often advised her husband, James Madison, while he was president. She was also considered by many to be quite the diplomat. When the British burned the White House during the War of 1812, Dolley is credited for not only saving Stuart's Portrait of George Washington, but also saving the orignial drafts of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independance. The Dolly Madison Star quilt block was designed around 1900 to commerate this incedible woman.
